1.   WE WELCOME YOU to Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church!  We

2. SUNDAY SCHOOL sessions for the 2010 – 2011 term begins TODAY, 3 October.
All students who are currently in grades Pre-K through, and including, 8are expected to
attend Sunday School classes. Religious classes will begin after Divine Liturgy. Parents,
grandparents, godparents and students have a serious obligation before God to attend  
proper Orthodox Christian instruction. May the Lord God bless this school year!

2a. RELIGIOUS SEMINAR for adults (secondary school and beyond) will be held this
year. We will consider the Book of Exodus and other related and pertinent topics.
Sessions will be on Tuesdays: 12th, 19th, 26th October, and  2nd (Election Day), 9th
Nov. at 7:00PM in the upper classroom in the Parish Hall. This seminar is open to
everyone, parishioners and non-parishioners, Orthodox and non-Orthodox. Welcome!

3. THE WREATH of flowers adorning the Holy Cross for the Feast of the Elevation is
offered by Zenovia Pecuch in memory of +Deacon Michael, +Matushka Susan and
+Zenaida Susko. May the Lord God grant rest with the Saints to His departed servants!
May He bless His servant Zenovia with Peace, Good Health, Prosperity, Salvation and
Many Years! Mnogaya Leta! Many Years!
Before Thy Cross, we bow down in worship, Master, and thy Holy Resurrection we
glorify!

4. THE ANNUAL Parish Meeting of Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church,
Scranton, Pennsylvania, is set to take place on Sunday, 24 October, 2010. The session
will be held in the Parish Hall following Divine Liturgy. All parishioners are welcome
and encouraged to attend this Annual Meeting.

5. THE RE-GILDING of our parish liturgical objects is an on-going holy work. Many
items have already been completed, thanks to the generosity of our parishioners and
friends. Yet to be done:
The “search engines” are at work!  Stay tuned!

6. CHURCH CLEANING this week  (3 October):  TEAM # 3 –  Sandra Wallick,

you!   Please, remember to tend to the main aisle, icons and candlestands after today’s
Divine Liturgy.

7. “THANK YOU”, too, to the dedicated men and women who help keep our parish
grounds in fine shape. Tending to the lawn, trimming the shrubbery, weed-whacking,
power washing, masonry repairs and all other “out-of-doors” necessities at the temple,
parish hall and cemetery are things which need to be done; and we especially are
grateful for the time and energy you donate to our parish in this regard. May the Lord
God bless you all!

8. THE DIVINE LITURGY is now broadcast live each Sunday from Saint John’s
Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Mayfield. Tune in to 94.3FM each Sunday morning at
9:30AM. This radio-broadcast is for the benefit of those who are unable to come to
church for Divine Liturgy. It is NOT a substitute for not attending Divine Liturgy here
at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Scranton.

9. Keep up with news and Divine Services, photos, links to Orthodox sites and more.
Our website now has a photogallery which is much easier to navigate – simply click on
the camera. In the future, this will enable us to post more pix on our website.
Be a website Sponsor for a donation of just $15 per month. Sponsorship forms are
available in the narthex. We need donations to keep our parish website on-linePLEASE,
favourably consider sponsoring the website for a month or more, God Bless you!  

10. THE HOLY FIRE from the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem, burns in the
lampadas in our church. If you wish to make a donation for the burning of the Holy
Fire in the Altar (Sanctuary) or Nave (main body) of our temple, please, stop at the
candle-desk. Offering intentions may be made for the health and salvation of family and
friends, or for the blessed repose of departed Christians. A donation of $25 per month
is requested to cover the cost of candles. God Bless!

11. MENDERS! A few months ago we requested parishioners to help do some simple
mending of our vestments. Several people responded. Will you, please, respond again?!
Everything is ready for work to begin. Please, contact Father Basil and let him know
you are ready, willing and able to help. Thank you and God Bless you!

12. TODAY: 3 October:
- Coffee Hour will be held in the Parish hall following Divine Liturgy. Everybody of
you is welcome to enjoy some refreshments and fine fellowship. Stop in for a while.
- The October 50/50 will be drawn during Coffee Hour. “Shares” for this event are
available at the candledesk today after Litgurgy. This will be the first fifty-fifty of fall!
Maybe October if your month to sweep the 50/50?!
- The Parish Council will convene for its regular meeting. All Council members are
asked to attend. Preparations for the Annual Parish Meeting (24 October) will be on the
agenda.
Parishioners who are willing to serve on the Parish Council for the next term are asked
to make their good intentions known. The Council meeting will be held in the Parish
hall after Coffee Hour.

13. HAPPENING SOON:   Our Parish will sponsor these events in the coming months.
Please, mark your calendars and plan to attend. Everybody of you is welcome!
- Holupki Dinner  next Sunday, 10 October, at noon. Enjoy , home-made stuffed
cabbage, vegetables, dessert and beverage. Mmmm,   Mmmm Good!
- Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner on Sunday, 7 November. This traditional, all-Parish
Thanksgiving  feast features roasted turkey will all the trimmings. Very satisfying!
Tickets for this dinner will soon be distributed to all parishioners. TRICKY TRAYS will
be featured at this Thanksgiving Dinner. We ask each family, please, to make and
donate at least one Tricky Tray basket for this event. Thanks! God Bless you!
Donation-$9 per dinner (takeout or eat-in).
Tell your family and friends and invite them to attend. Everyone is welcome!
